Delhi Court Acquits Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Sexual Harassment Case

In a major relief to former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the case of alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers, the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi has acquitted Brij Bhushan and Vinod Tomar in the case. The verdict comes after arguments ended on 2 July 2026. The order was reserved at that time. The case, which came to light in January 2023, has 127 hearings in 1,133 days. In May 2024, the court ordered framing of charges of criminal intimidation against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, he was discharged in the complaint of a woman wrestler, one of the six complainants. The court also ordered framing of charges against co-accused and former assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India Vinod Tomar. In the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police on 15 June, Brij Bhushan was charged with offences relating to outraging the modesty of women, sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation. Both the accused are currently out on bail under the Indian Penal Code.
