On Monday, the Rouse Avenue Court acquitted former WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar in the case of alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers. The case was related to allegations made by women wrestlers during Brijbhushan Sharan Singh's tenure as WFI chief. The Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh in 2023, charging him with offences such as sexual harassment, assault or criminal force against women, and criminal intimidation. Tomar was also made a co-accused in the case. Last month, the court had fixed August 3 for pronouncement of verdict in the case involving allegations of women wrestlers. The proceedings were held in-camera. After the final arguments of both sides were completed, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Panwar heard the detailed arguments of the prosecution and defence counsel within two weeks.
