New Delhi: In a major decision, the Services Department of the Delhi government has started the process of repatriating officers and employees working elsewhere in all departments to their parent departments. Delhi Subordinate Services (DSS) cadre employees in particular, who were posted for years in the Chief Minister's Office, Ministers'residences and offices of higher officials in the Secretariat, will now have to return to their parent department. Special Secretary, Services, Ajay Kumar Bisht, has issued strict instructions in this regard and asked to complete the entire process within the next three months. The main reason behind this administrative change is the shortage of staff in the parent departments. When an employee leaves his parent department and serves in another higher office, it has a negative impact on the performance of the parent department. According to government data, there are currently more than 16,000 employees in the DSS and Stairs, out of which about 600 are working on temporary or permanent posts.
