Delhi High Court Dismisses NSUI Candidate's Plea Challenging DUSU Elections Results

Amar Ujala Bureau Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea by NSUI candidate Vijay Shankar Meena challenging the results of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections 2026. A single bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee, hearing the petition, said that the evidence presented was not sufficient. In the petition, Meena had alleged bias and irregularities by college professors, administrators and election officials. He had also submitted photographs and videos in support. The court found that some of these materials appeared to be AI-generated and did not have clear evidence of date and time. Also, post-election celebratory events cannot be considered bias under Lyngdoh Committee guidelines. The court dismissed the petition and directed Delhi University to expeditiously decide on the submission made by Meena on poll-related complaints. Remember that in the DUSU election results declared on September 19, ABVP candidates had won the posts of president, vice-president and chief secretary. The NSUI candidate had knocked on the doors of the High Court a few days after the election results were declared.
