The Delhi High Court has questioned the decision to put a temporary ban on the messaging app Telegram for the NEET UG re-exam till June 22. The court has asked the Center how the rights of the messaging app's 150 million users can be limited just because some users are taking the exam. On Thursday (June 18, 2026), the High Court heard the petition filed by Telegram. The exam was cancelled on May 3 after the NEET UG paper leak case and now the re-exam is to be held on June 21. In such a situation, the government has temporarily banned the use of the app in India till June 22 in view of the danger of misusing Telegram before the exam. The Central Government strongly argued in the High Court on Thursday that Telegram can be misused by wrong elements. Senior advocate Dhruv Mehta represented the Center while Attorney General R. Venkatramani and General Tushar Mehta represented the Center.
