Elections for the post of Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be held in the last week of April. A notification in this regard is likely to be issued by the office of the Municipal Secretary this week. As per the rules of the Corporation Act, a new Mayor is required to be elected in the first month of every financial year. The process is conducted in the meeting of the House of the Corporation every year. The corporation elections are to be held next year. In view of this, the selection of the candidate for the new Mayor has also begun. Meetings of the corporation leaders with the President will also be held in the Delhi State Office of the BJP. According to the corporation sources, the names of leaders like the current leader of the House Pravesh Wahi, Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav, among the councillors of the BJP, are coming up. In the coming days, 14 MLAs will also be nominated by the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The mayor will be voted in the elections. According to the corporation sources, the three members to be elected from the House of the Standing Committee will also be elected as mayors. Nine members of the corporation were retired from the past six weeks.
