'Dhurandhar 2' Sparks Controversy Over Political Bias in Bollywood Film

Mumbai: Dhurandhar 2, produced by Aditya Dhar, is currently roaring in theatres. Tickets are housefull in Delhi at Rs 2,400, while theatres in Mumbai are buzzing round the clock. However, this success has been accompanied by a huge controversy. Many are calling it a'propaganda film ', given the way the film portrays the arrival of Prime Minister Modi, the announcement of demonetisation and the damage it has caused to the terrorist network. Critics believe that the dialogues in the face of the terrorists in the film, such as'Chwala has ruined us'and the manner in which the murder scenes of a real political leader in Uttar Pradesh are connected to the mission leans the film more towards political statement than cinema. At the core of the film's story is IB chief Ajay Sanyal's (R. Madhavan) mission to break the Pakistani network, but the flow of the story repeatedly turns to praise for the change of power and the government's decisions of 2014. Whenever the film's hero Jaskirat Singh (Ranveer Singh) shows his personal pain, the system is quick to sing patriotic songs and other characters feel the resentment of the government.
