Discontent Among BJP Workers in Cooch Behar District Over Ticket Distribution

There are 9 assembly constituencies in Cooch Behar district. In the 2021 election, BJP won 7. TMC won 2 seats. Later in the by-election, TMC snatched one seat. Now BJP has 6 MLAs in the district. TMC has 3 MLAs. But in the 2026 election, BJP did not give tickets to 4 of the BJP's winning MLAs. BJP has given new faces in four constituencies. Outgoing MLAs have locked horns over not getting tickets, but the discontent of a section of low-level workers has been felt. Like the Sitai constituency. Here BJP candidate, Greater Cooch Behar leader Ashutosh Verma, has protested at the district office. BJP workers have demanded a change of candidate. The Natabari seat is a BJP winning constituency. BJP has fielded Greater Cooch Behar leader Girija Shankar Roy. He joined BJP a few days ago. Party workers are also raising questions about this. In the 2021 assembly election, Dinhata, Tufanganj, Natabari, Cooch Behar, South Cooch Behar, North Cooch Behar, and Sitalanga. Union minister Pramanik Guha won the seat when the BJP returned to power.
