According to sources, Stalin discussed the possibility of the DMK supporting the AIADMK to facilitate government formation and prevent prolonged political instability in the state. The importance of these discussions also increases as none of the 234 members of the Tamil Nadu assembly, or the six MLAs of the alliance, have yet achieved the required majority figure of 118.
