The Election Commission has announced the third phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls today, Thursday. Election Commission In this phase, the process of SIR will start in 16 states and 3 union territories of the country including Delhi, Punjab and Karnataka. The third phase of SIR has been scheduled keeping in mind the ongoing house listing process of the census as well as the common ground process. The final electoral rolls will be released in Delhi on 7th October. In the third phase of the intensive revision of the electoral rolls, the SIR process will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The schedule of the SIR process will be announced later, after the completion of the second phase of the census in these 3 states and union territories and taking into account the weather conditions in the upper reaches. During the third phase of the SIR, more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will go door-to-door to help the ID1 crore voters. A detailed process of counting of votes will be carried out by the political parties.
