New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has taken a major and modern step in view of the upcoming assembly elections in five states. Political parties now recognized for campaigning in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal will no longer have to go to the Commission's office to get'Time Vouchers '. The Election Commission has now fully digitized the process, so that parties can easily get online vouchers through IT platforms. This decision taken under Section 39A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, will act as an important step towards making the election process more transparent and easier. This'Time Voucher'system: Political parties are allotted free time to present their views on Doordarshan and All India Radio. Base Time: Each recognised party will get at least 45 minutes. Parties that have performed well in the past will also be allotted extra time. Lottery system: To decide which party will be broadcast at which time, lottery system will be used to discuss the list of candidates easily.
