Election Commission Holds Meeting, Clarifies Dispute Over Form 6

Amid the ongoing controversy over the country's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, the Election Commission has held a major meeting on Saturday (September 26, 2026). This important meeting was attended by all the three election commissioners of the commission i.e. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. In this meeting, it was decided that the dispute over Form 6 is not really a core issue. The Supreme Court has also accepted the declaration of Form 6 as correct. The commission also informed that the letter written to the Cabinet Secretary had nothing to do with the policy decision of the Election Commission. According to the official statement released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday (September 26, 2026), the two other election commissioners along with the Chief Election Commissioner have taken many decisions with consensus in the meeting. It said in the first decision: The second decision was'SIR of Bihar and West Bengal'and the list of SIRs has already been completed during this process.
