The Commission said it received a communication from the Delhi Police at around 4 pm. The Police informed that a delegation of MPs led by the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, wanted to meet the Election Commission and submit a memorandum. The Commission then began considering the MPs'proposal. The EC informed that it had set a procedure for a meeting with political parties in 2025. This procedure has been communicated to all political parties and parties meet the Commission accordingly. According to the Commission, when a delegation of a political party or a joint delegation of several parties wants to meet the Election Commission, it has to seek an appointment through its duly authorised representative. Thereafter, the date and time of the meeting is mutually agreed upon. The ECI said that after 4 pm, when it was considering the proposal for a meeting of MPs, the DCP of Delhi Police gave the information related to the meeting. According to the Commission, a group of 240 MPs were to attend the meeting and the Annexe Building, the proposed venue for such a meeting, as per its protocol, was communicated to the Election Commission of India.
