Before the Assembly elections in 2027, the Election Commission has done away with the requirement of filling up additional manifestos of the 2003 electoral roll with Form VI. The biggest impact is likely to be on voters whose names were struck off in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and who had trouble retrieving old family voter records for later re-enrolment. Now, the path to return to the electoral roll will be relatively easier for such applicants. However, the prescribed proof of age, citizenship, and usual residence, and other legal requirements will remain in place. There were more than 6.45 lakh voters in Gorakhpur before the SIR. More than 6.5 lakh names were deleted in the campaign. A large number of these people were voters but could not provide the required information or records related to their names, parents, or grandparents in the 2003 electoral roll. The district-level data released after the SIR showed a reduction in the number of voters with 6,45,634 name deletion and 30,20,908 ID3.
