Ahead of the elections, the opposition has been raising the issue of potato farmers. On Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the state government over the plight of farmers at a meeting in Bankura. However, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee dismissed the opposition's allegations as "false propaganda." Abhishek Banerjee held a roadshow in support of TMC candidate Rash Behari Haldar in Memari, Purba Bardhaman. The march started from the area adjacent to the Memari BDO office intersection. The march then went through Bamunpara intersection and ended near the Memari new bus stand. He launched a scathing attack on the BJP from the roadshow after the march. He claimed that the condition of farmers in the state is the worst in the BJP-ruled states who are making promises to the potato growers today. He alleged that many farmers have died in the BJP-ruled states in the last one year and the Centre cannot escape responsibility for the failure of agricultural policies. He also criticised the Centre for increasing the price of urea fertilizer in the last one year. Abhishek also alleged that the price of urea has gone up by ₹400 in the last one year. More than 10 farmers have died in the state in the name of the farm laws
