Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raids on Properties Linked to Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday carried out a major operation in connection with the municipal recruitment scam in West Bengal. The central agency conducted simultaneous raids on several properties linked to Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and former minister Madan Mitra. According to sources, the action is being carried out as part of its probe into irregularities in the recruitment process in municipalities and a money laundering case. According to sources, seven premises linked to Madan Mitra are being searched. These include his residence in Kolkata's Bhowanipore, a five-storey apartment in Dakshineswar and a flat on the southern outskirts of Joka. Besides, a property in north Kolkata's Beleghata, two local clubs in Bhowanipore and Santoshpur were also searched. The probe agency also reached the house on Dhirendranath Gupta Road in Bhowanipore, where Madan Mitra lives with his family. He currently represents the Kamarhati Assembly seat in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. According to sources, the searches are being carried out at seven locations linked to Madan Mitra.
