Enforcement Directorate Conducts Simultaneous Raids in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman District

In West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate, ED launched simultaneous raids across multiple locations in the Paschim Bardhaman district early today. Accompanied by teams of central paramilitary forces, ED officials are conducting extensive searches in Pandaveswar, Jamuria, Andal, Durgapur, and Panagarh. The crackdown targets the residences of several prominent businessmen and a police official. In Durgapur’s City Centre area, a raid is underway at the home of Manoranjan Mondal, the current Officer-in-Charge of Budbud Police Station, who had previously faced suspension during his tenure as the Officer-in-Charge of Baraboni. Simultaneously, searches are being conducted at the residence of sand trader Prabir Dutta in Sepco Township, while a 16-member ED team is interrogating hardware businessman Rajesh Bansal in Jamuria. In Pandaveswar’s Nabagram, the house of coal trader Maijul Shah has also been cordoned off for investigation.While the ED has yet to release an official statement regarding the specific catalyst for these raids, sources suggest the operation is linked to financial irregularities and money laundering investigations involving the regional coal and sand trade.
