Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan's Ex-Wife Raises Concerns Over Torture Allegations and Prison Conditions

Jemima Goldsmith, the ex-wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has raised serious concerns about his prison conditions and health. She has appealed to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband to intervene in the case. Goldsmith alleges that Imran Khan has been tortured by his political opponents for the past three years and that this is having a serious impact on his physical and mental health. Imran Khan, 73, was arrested in a corruption case on 5 August 2023 and has been in custody ever since. He is being held in Adiala Jail on the outskirts of Rawalpindi. Goldsmith wrote on X, "How long will Britain keep quiet?" She alleges that the father of both her sons and former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been tortured by political opponents for three years. She calls it an act of "personal vendetta" by Pakistani army chief Asim Munir. Goldsmith claims that Imran Khan has suffered three years of solitary confinement and that he has not been given access to his family's lawyers. Goldsmith claims that Imran Khan's family has been given access to doctors and lawyers for close to 10 months.
