Ex-TMC Leader Manzoor Alam Joins AAP to Cut into Minority Vote

Dipankar Mitra, Raiganj: Manzoor Alam is upset with the party for trying to sow thorns in the meadow. Not only is he ranting against the Trinamool Congress (TMC), but he has also enrolled himself in expelled TMC MLA Humayun Kabir's party to cut into the ruling party's minority vote. Manzoor's candidature from the Aam Janta Vikas Party (AAP) is showing signs of unease in the Raiganj constituency. While ruling party candidate Krishna Kalyani is openly claiming victory, a section of the party is acknowledging Manzoor's influence among the voters. Manzoor, who once held multiple posts in the TMC from area president to youth president, is now a TMC thorn in Raiganj. Though he did not win, he is trying to teach the TMC a lesson by drawing voters from minority-dominated Gouri and Bahin areas. Manzoor's wife, who was a TMC candidate in the'23 panchayat elections, did not respond.
