G-7 Summit Convenes in Evian-les-Bains to Address Middle East Crisis

World leaders have gathered in the French city of Evian-les-Bains for the G-7 summit. The focus of the summit is expected to be on the situation in the Middle East after the Russo-Ukrainian war and the initial US-Iran peace deal. This year, the summit is being attended by the group's member countries, including talks with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt. Several countries, including India, Brazil, Kenya, and South Korea, are participating in select sessions of the conference. The G-7 summit in 2026 is chaired by France and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The G-7's full name is the Group of Seven. It includes the world's seven largest developed economies. The G-7 countries include Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In addition to these countries, the European Union also participates in the forum on a permanent basis. The Group of 7 countries, Japan, France, and Italy participated in the first G-7 economic summit in 1975 to deal with the oil crisis.
