Gujarat: Man Impersonates IAS Officer, Cheats Two People Out of Rs.7 Lakh

A case of cheating has come to light in Gujarat's Anand city by impersonating as an IAS officer and deputy collector. According to the police, a man named Raunaq Christian took lakhs of rupees from a shopkeeper and another person on the pretext of getting them government jobs. The accused also used a fake government ID card that looked genuine to prove his identity. According to the police, the accused Raunaq Christian is a resident of Anand's Salemnagar society. He showed his alleged government identity at a Xerox shop on Bakrol Road. The accused identified himself as an IAS officer and deputy collector and tried to win the complainant's trust through this identity. The police say that the accused took a total of Rs.7 lakh in cash in different installments from shopkeeper Neeraj Patel and another person by luring them to get a job. The accused also allegedly promised to get a job in the direct recruitment of a naib tehsildar. He also claimed to have a fake government ID card to help the complainant.
