Actress Nidhi Gangta Opens Up About Her Nuanced Performance in Seher Hone Ko Hai

Actress Nidhi Gangta is winning attention for her nuanced performance in the television drama Seher Hone Ko Hai. In an exclusive conversation with Times of India TV, Nidhi spoke candidly about her character, the emotional shifts in the storyline, and why she doesn’t view her role through the lens of stereotypes.“I am just playing a girl who is hurt in love,” she shared, summing up the core of her character with honesty and sensitivity.Talking about the story and her role, Nidhi explained, “The story is basically a drama. So, all the stories revolve around them. My character is Nazima. She is Usman’s granddaughter and Mukti’s granddaughter as well.” Nazima’s emotional journey begins with love that has deep roots. “She loves Mahesh, played byParth Samthaan. She has loved him since childhood because they grew up together.She can do anything for Mahesh,” Nidhi said.However, Nazima’s world comes crashing down when her feelings are not reciprocated. “When she proposes to Mahesh and tells him her feelings, she learns that he doesn’t love her, he doesn’t care about her,” the actress revealed. This heartbreak becomes the turning point of the character. “So, when her heart breaks, there is a switch in the character. Now, my character hates Seher because she is going to marry Mahesh.For me, Seher is like taking my place in the Mukti family,” she added. Nazima’s pain fuels her actions, and as Nidhi puts it, “Now, I will do things that will bring problems in her life.”When asked if she fears being stereotyped by playing a grey or negative role, Nidhi was clear in her response. “I don’t think that. Even if you do a negative grey shade, people will love you if you do it with honesty,” she said. She further explained that she doesn’t label the character as grey.“I am just thinking from a girl’s perspective. She is hurt, she loves someone, and she is just fighting for her love. This is her story.She believes in love so much that she is hurting. I think it’s just a character that I would love to play.”Nidhi also shared how the director helped shape her mindset for the role. “I have no inspiration. The director just puts all of us in a state of mind where you imagine the situation. You will obviously have some hatred.That is how we are shaping this character,” she said, adding that her focus remains on performing honestly rather than overthinking shades.Recalling how the role came to her, Nidhi revealed, “I got the script and the casting director called me and asked if I was interested. He said I had to come in one hour to audition.
