Haryana Administration Cracks Down on Crop Residue Burning in Karnal District

The administration, including the agriculture department, has come into full alert mode regarding crop residue management in the Karnal district of Haryana. To prevent stubble burning in the fields, the administration has fielded more than 750 officers and employees of various departments, who will not only make the farmers aware of the damage caused by stubble burning, but will also not hesitate to file cases against the farmers who burn the stubble. The agriculture officer said that last year 23 cases of stubble burning were reported by the farmers. This time they will come down to zero. He said that the agricultural department has balers and machinery fully available. The farmers who manage the stubble will be provided with an incentive of ₹1200 per acre by the government. For that also the agriculture department is making the farmers aware of what system to manage the stubble. He said that the farmers who will set fire to the stubble even after being made aware by the district administration in the agriculture department will be booked and their raid will also be conducted. He said that the farmers will not be able to sell their crop in the mandi this time.
