Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has taken a historic decision to stop the increasing burden on the exchequer and delay in construction works. Now the budget of any government project in the state will not be able to be revised by the officials or contractors on their own. The Chief Minister made it clear that if the work is increased in the middle of a project, then a new tender will have to be issued separately. During the assembly session, the Chief Minister said that at present a trend has been made that a project of 10 crores is started and reached 20 crores in the name of expansion. This creates problems like'enhancement'and budget deficit. The Chief Minister said that this custom of increasing the budget estimate will no longer work in Haryana. If the project needs to be expanded, then a new tender process will have to be adopted instead of adding the amount to the old contract. The guidelines have been issued to the higher officials of all the departments regarding this decision.
