Himachal Pradesh Hit by Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms

Rains lashed Shimla on Sunday. Parts of Kangra district received rain in the morning and afternoon. Bad weather led to the cancellation of a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dharamshala. Traffic was affected for some time after a tree fell near Ghatta. The Met department has issued a yellow alert of rain for the state till August 8. Heavy rain is expected at some places during this period. A yellow alert has been issued for Bilaspur, Kangra, Chamba and Sirmaur districts on August 3. Thunderstorm with gusty winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph is expected at some places from August 2 to 8. Rainfall occurred at some places in Sirmaur district on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Three roads were closed due to waterlogging. Traffic was affected by boulders on Nahan-Kumarhatti NH 907A. Adjoining areas, including the district headquarters of Chamba, were lashed by strong winds throughout the day on Sunday.
