Himachal Pradesh Hit by Torrential Rains: Flash Floods and Landslides Wreak Havoc

In Himachal Pradesh, torrential rains have wreaked havoc in the Nirmand area of Kullu district. Flash floods and landslides have destroyed a school building. Apart from this, other buildings have also been damaged. The floods have also destroyed more than 500 apple trees. People have fled their homes. Many people spent the night in cars parked on the roadside. The government primary school building built in the year 1993 in Pankwa village of Panchayat Bari collapsed. A huge amount of debris from the hillside fell on the school building, making the building unusable. The relief is that the accident happened at night, so there were no casualties. More than 500 apple trees have been destroyed, while several cowsheds have also been damaged. The affected families are estimated to have suffered losses worth millions of rupees. According to preliminary estimates, many houses in the orchards of Laxman Rathore, Maheshwar Singh Thakur, Himesh Ajay, Sess Ram, and Sohan Lal, including Ram Singh, have been damaged in the landslide. Landslides continue to be a threat to the families.
