In Himachal Pradesh, Play and Pre Nursery level Early Childhood Care and Education Centres (ECCEs) in the private sector will no longer be able to operate without inspection. The state government has implemented a new system for registration, renewal and regular monitoring of such centres. Under this, any ECCE centre will have to meet the prescribed standards before registration. The Department of Women and Child Development has constituted inspection committees at the district and sub-division level under the Himachal Pradesh Early Childhood Care and Education Centres (Registration and Regulation) Rules-2026. These committees will be headed by the respective SDMs. The committee will include Block Development Officers, Block Education Officers, Block Medical Officers, Panchayat or Urban Body Representatives, ICDS Supervisors and Child Development Project Officers.
