Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the state government has achieved another milestone by safeguarding the interests of the state in the Kishau Dam Project. The continuous efforts of the Chief Minister have paved the way for the construction of the Kishau Dam Project of 422 MW capacity to be constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 15,000 crore. The project is proposed on the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on the Taunus River. The Chief Minister strongly advocated the state's interest in the high-level meeting held in New Delhi today under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and has achieved great success in ending the impasse related to bearing the financial cost of the project for the last eight years. The Government of India has agreed in principle to bear the estimated cost of about Rs 2,000 crore to be borne by the states of Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana as the power component of Himachal Pradesh's share of the project. The Chief Minister's determined efforts will result in reducing the financial burden on the state, while the previous government was not successful in doing so.
