Chief Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the financial challenges of the state in the important meeting of NITI Aayog held under the chairmanship of Narendra Modi. He categorically said that Himachal is providing ecological services worth billions of rupees to the country, but the state is not getting its due in return. Focusing on the theme of Inclusive Human Development for a Developed India, the Chief Minister demanded from the Central Government that a high-level committee be constituted to assess the financial losses of Himachal. The Chief Minister mentioned the achievements of the state in human development indices. Himachal Pradesh was declared fully literate in 2025 and secured the sixth position in the state in the School Education Performance Grading Index in 2026. The state was ranked 21st in this index when his government took over in 2022. The gross enrolment ratio of the state in higher education is 43%, which is 28.4% higher than the national average. He also mentioned the excellent performance of the state in the National Family Health Survey. The Chief Ministers of various states, Deputy Chief Ministers, Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, Member of NITI Aayog, Chief Executive Officer of Himachal Pradesh were also present in the special meeting.
