During a visit to the village of Turmus Ayya, Huckabee said, "If an intruder comes and puts up their flag and takes over land or property that does not belong to them, if they burn a car, set fire to a mosque, break into someone's house, or write offensive things on the walls, it is a criminal act. But it is not limited to crime. It is an act of terror." Turmus Ayya village has been the subject of multiple reports of attacks by Israeli settlers over the past year. According to the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs, there has also been an uptick in settler violence in the West Bank during the war in Gaza that began after the Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel on 7 October 2023. Huckabee used the term "terrorist homes" during a West Bank bus strike last month, following weeks of unrest in the West Bank town of Qusra.
