The IAF has formally handed over 39. 5 acres of its sports complex at Delhi's Race Course Air Force Station to the Land and Development Office (L & DO). The transfer was completed on an'as is where is'basis. It is part of a larger initiative by the central government to take back prime government land around Lok Kalyan Marg. The prime minister's residence is also located in this area. The site is considered to be extremely sensitive from a security and administrative point of view. The land handed over by the IAF was primarily being used as a sports complex that included a golf course, swimming pool, and other sports facilities. L & DO had demanded about 39. 9 acres of which 39. 5 acres have now come into its possession. A joint team of the Defence Estates Office, IAF, and L & DO will conduct a survey. The exact extent of the land will be decided in this survey and no difference in measurement will be checked. The exact extent of this land alone will not be clear for the Delhi government to take back 53 acres of land from the Race Club.
