India and Canada Mark Historic Turning Point with Multi-Faceted Partnership

New Delhi: The recent bitterness in relations between India and Canada seems to have become history. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to India has done in just two days what was not possible in the last eight years. External Affairs Secretary P Kumaran called it a "historic turning point." Canada has now bet on India's $6 trillion economy. During this visit, long-term contracts have been signed with a company'Chemco'for uninterrupted supply of uranium needed for nuclear power to India, which will realize India's target of 100 GW of nuclear power by 2047. This partnership is not limited to energy, but also includes technology and industries of the future. Prime Minister Modi has announced the'AI Compute Corridor'and'Innovation Sandbox ', making it clear that the two countries will now lead the world together in start-ups and artificial intelligence.
