INDIA Bloc Meeting: Opposition Parties Unite to Strengthen Alliance

INDIA bloc meeting was held in New Delhi this afternoon. Various opposition party leaders attended the meeting. It included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee, Senior National Conference Leader Omar Abdullah and NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule. While some opposition parties, including Aam Aadmi Party and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam distanced themselves from the meeting. Addressing the media after the meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge shared that 25 political parties attended the meeting. He noted that various issues were discussed and everyone shared their views during the meeting. Mr Kharge further added it was agreed that all parties of the INDIA bloc would meet every two months, and the next meeting is scheduled for August. He added that the next meeting will take place in Hyderabad, Telangana. Reacting to the meeting, the BJP claimed that the INDIA bloc lacks credibility among the people. Addressing the media in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the people have already rendered the opposition alliance ineffective, and it is now attempting to regain relevance through such meetings. He asserted that the public are closely watching their actions and they know that these deliberations will not yield any meaningful outcome. Mr Patra added that there will be no impact on the public of these meetings.
