India Launches Goverdhan Scheme to Promote Compressed Biogas Production

The government has launched its Rs 23,731-crore Goverdhan scheme for compressed biogas (CBG). The scheme is aimed at increasing revenue from waste and dung, as well as eliminating pollution. Under the scheme, the government will buy 100% gas produced by biogas plant owners or sell it to a large gas company. The scheme will guarantee biogas producers a share of their production up to 100%, as well as help with the price and capital fixed by the government for at least 10 years. This means that gas prices will increase or decrease in the market, the government will fix a rate for it for the next 10 years, so that plant owners do not have to compromise on profits. The government has made it legal to merge the Compressed Biogas Obligation (CBO) with its own CNG (CNG) and CNG (CNG) networks to meet targets under the Goverdhan scheme.
