India Passes Anti-Paper Leak Bill Amidst Controversy

The Anti-Paper Leak Bill introduced by the Central Government in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon Session of Parliament has been passed. Despite much debate and uproar in Parliament over this bill, the House passed the bill. Objecting to the passage of the Anti-Paper Leak Bill in the Lok Sabha, the Leader of the Opposition in the House and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that there is nothing in this bill which says that it will stop paper leaks. He said, "Actually, this is not an anti-paper leak bill. Anti-paper leak bill means that which eliminates paper leaks completely and this bill is not going to eliminate leaked paper." After the passage of the Anti-Paper Leak Bill in the House, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) at the Congress headquarters and said, "This bill is not going to stop paper leaks. Incidents of paper leaks will continue. This rubber-stamping bill is just a punishment for this problem."
