India Secures Uncontested Victories in UN Sub-Organizations

New York: Another proof of India's growing strength in global politics was seen today at the United Nations (UN) headquarters. India won a resounding and uncontested victory in the elections to four important sub-organizations of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. This victory is not only a victory in the elections, but a stamp of India's credibility at the international level. Preeti Saran, a former Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs with 36 years of experience in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has been re-elected to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Preeti Saran, who had a successful tenure as the Chairperson of the Committee last year, has been India's Ambassador to Vietnam and has represented India from Moscow to Geneva.
