New Delhi: On the ongoing tension in West Asia, India has said that it is trying to develop a common BRICS position, although consensus has not been reached so far due to differences among member countries. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Saturday, without naming any country, said that some member countries of BRICS are directly involved in this conflict, which makes it difficult for the group to form a common position. As the current chair of BRICS, India faces the challenge of how to forge a common BRICS position on this conflict in West Asia. India is pursuing discussions among the 11 BRICS countries through the Sherpa channel. The last Sherpa meeting was held on March 12 through digital means. Jaiswal said, We are trying our best to forge a common position, but due to divergent views, no consensus has been reached. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson told that, we are in constant touch with the BRICS member countries so that a joint statement can be issued by India on the current crisis situation in BRICS.
