Indian Army Overcomes Fuel-Freezing Challenge in High-Altitude Areas with Indigenous XWG Diesel

The army finds it difficult to operate its heavy tanks during the winter in the high mountainous areas of Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. The temperature in these inhospitable areas drops to minus 42 degrees Celsius. The fuel used in tanks freezes due to this severe cold. But this problem of the army has now been overcome. Even the blood-clotting winter will not be able to stop the operation of army tanks anymore. The army has adopted a special indigenous fuel called'XWG Diesel'to deal with the problem of fuel freezing. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has developed'XWG Diesel'in collaboration with the Indian Army and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It will be used in tanks and military vehicles deployed in the high-altitude border areas with China and Pakistan. The full name of this special fuel is Extreme Winter Grade Diesel. This special fuel does not freeze even at minus 42 degrees Celsius and has been indigenously developed to work in extremely cold climates. XWG Diesel is fully deployed in 90-TWG technology.
