Congress state president says new rules will increase farmers'difficultiesTrending videos Remove these videos / adsPHOTO: AMAR UJALA BUREAU Chandigarh: State Congress president Rao Narendra Singh has described the government procurement process for wheat and mustard as a nuisance to farmers. Terming the new rules as a Tughlaqi diktat, he said the party will agitate in support of farmers if the government does not reform the rules. Rao Narendra Singh said the new rules will increase farmers'difficulties and make it difficult to sell crops at the minimum support price (MSP). Now farmers will have to bring their crops in their own tractor trolleys and write their numbers clearly. They will have to upload their photos on the portal at the mandi gate. Also, rules like permission to bring crops from 6 am to 8 pm and biometric verification have been implemented. He alleged that these complicated procedures will increase the crowd in the mandis, delay the arrival of crops and also affect the lifting of hailstorms.
