Indian Government Considers Special Parliament Session to Pass Amendment Bills

The central government is considering calling a special session of parliament to pass the amendment bills related to delimitation and women's reservation. The current monsoon session is to end on August 13, but prorogation will not be done after that, so that a special session of parliament can be called soon if needed. The government is said to be working towards ensuring the necessary two-thirds majority in both houses to pass the amendment bills. Sources say that as soon as enough support is assured, a three-day special session can be called from August 16. However, no official announcement has been made by the government in this regard yet. The government has proposed a special session to the opposition, including the Congress. The government has told the Congress that it wants to call a special session of parliament from 16,17,18 on the delimitation bill. On this proposal of the government, the Congress has said that it will discuss with the party and the opposition.
