Indian Government Delays FCRA Amendment Bill Amid Opposition

In the last week of the monsoon session in parliament, the FCRA amendment bill has not been included in the agenda of the Lok Sabha. It is believed that the government can soften this controversial bill to please parties like DMK and NCP (SP). These parties are opposing the provisions of the bill, but the BJP alliance is seeing them as potential supporters in the delimitation process. According to sources, the picture will be clear in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha on Monday. The next agenda is to be decided in this meeting. If the bill is to be introduced for passage in the remaining 4 days of the monsoon session of parliament, then there will be time to discuss it. Monday's agenda is to introduce 4 bills, but the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill is not mentioned anywhere. According to the Times of India report, this bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 25 March, but due to the strong opposition from the opposition parties and Christian groups, it has not yet received a large amount of amendments.
