Indian Government Extends Tenures of Top Officials to Ensure Stability

The central government within the last three months has given extension to officers holding top 6 important positions in the country. These are all posts whose tenure is usually fixed. The government wants to indicate that it does not want any sudden change in the leadership of key key ministries and investigating agencies. Cabinet Secretary: The country's highest administrative post टी.वी. Somanathan's tenure has been extended in August. He will now hold the responsibility of this post till 2027. Home Secretary: Govind Mohan, who is in charge of the country's internal security, will also continue in his post till August 2027. Foreign Secretary: Vikram Misri's tenure was extended for one year in July to give stability to foreign policy. He will now serve as Foreign Secretary till July 2027. CBI Director: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chief Praveen Sood has got a second consecutive service extension, after which his tenure has been fixed till May 2027. ED Director: Naveen (ED) Naveen (ED), who is now heading the Railway Board, has also been given a second consecutive extension till 2027.
