New Delhi: The central government held a very important all-party meeting in Parliament House to deal with the escalating tensions in West Asia and the resulting global energy crisis. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting, which was attended by senior ministers such as Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, and Hardeep Singh Puri. The external affairs minister apprised all parties of the Israel-Iran conflict and its adverse impact on India's oil imports. The government stressed that it was a matter of national security and all parties must deal with the global situation as one. On the political front, the meeting witnessed ups and downs. Opposition parties such as the Congress, SP, AAP, and NCP participated in the brainstorming in national interest, but West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party TMC boycotted the meeting outright. TMC MP Saugata Roy went on the offensive, saying, "Our fight is with the BJP, so why sit with them and talk about supplies?"
