The central government has zeroed in on the land of the Indian Air Force golf course located near the official residence of the prime minister. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has sought the return of this prime property. According to sources, the authorities concerned have been informed of the government's intention. However, no formal eviction notice has been issued yet. The time frame for handing over the land is also not clear. This golf course is part of the Air Force Station Delhi which also houses official and residential facilities of the Air Force. Nearby is the Safdarjung Airport where BSF helicopters and other aviation assets are kept. The move is part of a larger drive to take back prime land on Lok Kalyan Marg and the surrounding area. The Land and Development Office (L & DO) is carrying out this work. The government aims to ensure better and public use of the strategically important and high-value government land. In August, the Delhi Race Club has been evicted from its 53-acre premises. It was also reported that the government has started the process to evict 27 acres of land belonging to the Delhi Polo Association from the Jaipur Polo Ground for public purposes.
