Indian Government's Proposed FCRA Amendment Sparks Opposition from Congress Party

The monsoon session of Parliament is underway. Meanwhile, there is talk that the government may bring a new bill to amend the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) in this session. The Congress party has made up its mind to strongly oppose this bill. The Congress says that this bill is "anti-Christian." This bill will cause a lot of harm to minority organizations working in the country. Congress leaders believe that the new rules of FCRA will adversely affect Christian organizations, schools and hospitals running in remote, rural and tribal areas of the country. Congress MP Hibi Eden says that these organizations are providing education and health services in many difficult areas of the country. But, the government wants to suppress them. He alleges that under the rules of the new bill, the District Magistrate (DM) or Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) can take over the property of any organization on violation of the rules. They can also investigate in old cases. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has also said that if the government does not want to fulfill this dream in two days, then it will be fulfilled.
