The Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) department of Safdarjung Hospital and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) has achieved a major feat by transplanting a systemic atrioventricular (AV) valve with robotic technology on a patient suffering from a rare congenital heart defect, which the hospital claims is the first of its kind in medical science, under the leadership of hospital director Dr Kavita Sharma.
