Indian LNG Tanker Disha Safely Navigates Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions

LNG tanker Disha reaches Dahej Port in Gujarat after safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The Malta-flagged tanker is carrying 62,370 metric tonnes of LNG. The LNG-laden tanker is the first Indian LNG tanker to cross Hormuz since the Iran war began nearly three-and-a-half months ago. Gujarat's Bharuch Port Authority said, "The ship named LNGG Disha arrived at Dahej Port in the morning. It is anchored at the Petronet LNG jetty." The LNG tanker Disha, managed by a consortium led by the Shipping Corporation of India and chartered by Petronet LNG Ltd, is one of the first commercial vessels to pass through the Strait after the initial ceasefire announcement between the US and Iran. Opesh Kumar Sharma, director of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), had said on Thursday that the vessel is expected to reach Dahej Port on Friday. "As you know, the LNG-flagged tanker Disha is carrying LNG cargo close to the Strait on June 15."
