A crucial meeting of MPs began on Monday at Bhartendu Auditorium in Banaras Railway Division Headquarters with senior Railway officials, including General Manager (GM) of North Eastern Railway Uday Bordkar in attendance. MP Rajiv RTP Rudy chaired the meeting. Detailed discussions are going on in the meeting on various issues related to the expansion of rail passenger facilities and regional rail development. The MPs gave several important suggestions keeping in view the needs of their respective regions. The demand for stopping trains at various stations was highlighted so that the local passengers could get better facilities. Apart from this, a proposal was also made to ease the traffic by constructing underpasses at busy intersections. The possibility of increasing the speed of trains on rail routes up to 120 kmph was also discussed in the meeting. RO plants were suggested to be set up at stations to provide clean drinking water to passengers. The MPs also demanded a nodal officer appointed by the Railways for each MP for better coordination between the Railways and the public representatives and to develop women passenger amenities and overall passenger amenities.
