Indian Opposition Protests in Parliament, Demands Answers on Key Issues

During the monsoon session of parliament, the opposition intensified its protests against the central government. Opposition parties marched to the parliament complex demanding the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, police action on protesting students, and the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The opposition demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in the house and discuss these issues. The opposition parties marched from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at'Prerna Sthal'in the parliament complex to the'Makar Dwar'of the parliament building. The MPs involved in the march held a large banner with "Amit Shah Jawab Do" written on it. During this, the opposition MPs shouted slogans against the central government and alleged that the government was evading accountability on these issues. The protest march was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav, and several MPs from various opposition parties. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the opposition has demanded that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah "come to our side and discuss these issues."
