The second phase of the Budget session of Parliament has begun. The Congress leadership held a crucial parliamentary strategy group meeting on Sunday and decided to prepare a joint strategy during the budget session of Parliament. During the first phase of the budget session last month, the opposition submitted a no-confidence motion to the Lok Sabha secretary general, demanding the removal of the speaker. In this motion, the opposition accused Om Birla of being biased. 118 MPs of Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, Left parties and other parties, except the Trinamool Congress, signed it. The BJP and Congress issued a three-line whip to their Lok Sabha MPs, directing them to be present in the House till Tuesday. The first phase of the budget session began on January 28 and lasted till February 13. The first phase discussed the motion of thanks to the president's address and the Union Budget 2026-27.
